Strategy

At 35 stories tall, Tour Carpe Diem is a beacon of environmental sustainability on the skyline of La Défense, Paris’ business district. At the base of the tower, a vegetated winter garden brings elements of nature into the building. Throughout, a water conservation system collects stormwater and recycles greywater to drastically reduce potable water demand.

Solar hot water, coupled with ground source heat pumps and ice storage help cut down on the building’s energy usage. For comfort throughout the office spaces, the building is designed to allow 90% of occupants views to the outdoors while 75% of interior areas are naturally daylit. Atop the tower, a green roof helps combat the urban heat island effect to better integrate the tower with its neighborhood.
